Summer Of '23
My summer internship at HARMAN was one of the most interesting summers yet.
‘’Hear the Truth” is the tagline of JBL. It also happens to be my biggest learning over the 2 months working with the JBL and Huemen Design team.
The most user-centric and impactful design solutions are made with a an undying passion to create, have have a well defined user base and no bias.

The Dynamic Work Landscape
It refers to the Evolving nature of work environments and structures and with this change, there are 5 main aspects which are going to play a key role in the years to come.
Having a more human centric Work-Life Balance
Working from home/ Working in a flexible manner
Optimizing meetings/
Making them more efficient
Integration of automation,data-driven decisions and other rapid technological advancements.
Inclusivity and Diversity for better innovation and different perspectives

Integration with official meetings app (Microsoft Teams/Webex etc.)

Live audio translation/Post meeting transcription of translated languages in case of global meetings.

Customization of gestures for quick controls (muting, ending meeting calls and changing volume levels)

Customizable - Playing binaural beats 2 minutes before every scheduled meeting starts to improve focus and concentration.

A beep call to find the headset in case it is lost.

Changing the color of the rim of the headphone to warn/inform people of meeting status/mood.

Tracking of work schedule statistics for better work life balance and portrays a library of material to increase productivity and efficiency / Warns you went to take breaks.

Customizing audio equilizing setttings.

Work-App Integration
Integration of the headset with the official meetings application (MS Teams, Webex etc.) for day schedules, post-meeting translations, transcriptions, pre-work focus modes which helps organize and integrate audio AI algorithms to optimize the meetings and post-meetings experience.
Work-Life Balance
Weekly, monthly and all-time statistics to study and understand the Work-Life Balance of the user.
It helps improve productivity and efficiency.
Good physical and mental health enhances motivation and commitment to work.
Customizable Binaural Beats for Enhanced Concentration
(Different Frequencies in both ears. Difference in Frequencies = Binaural Range Value)
13 Hz - 30 Hz is the primary range associated with wakefulness, alertness, and focused mental activity.
High-Frequency Beta (e.g., 20 Hz - 30 Hz): Binaural beats in this range are thought to promote high-level cognitive functions, problem-solving, and analytical thinking.
Mid-Frequency Beta (e.g., 15 Hz - 20 Hz): These binaural beats are associated with sustained attention and improved memory. They can be useful for tasks that require prolonged concentration.
Low-Frequency Beta (e.g., 13 Hz - 15 Hz): These binaural beats may help reduce mental fatigue and maintain a state of alertness, making them suitable for tasks that require sustained effort.
